Washing the wedding dress and removing stains
You can’t wash your wedding dress like a cotton T-shirt. Firstly, they are made of different materials. Secondly, its value as a memory of one of the most important events in life is not comparable, as, indeed, its monetary value.
Marseille soap is your best assistant if the stain is already old. Wipe the stain with a small piece of soap so that the stain is covered with a layer of soap. Leave on for 30 minutes. Then rinse with plenty of water.
Salt is ideal for stains of red wine. It will not make the stain disappear, but it will help prevent the absorption of wine by the cloth if you sprinkle it with salt as soon as you stain it.
To remove the stain from strong alcohol, moisten the cloth with white vinegar and then gently pat it in water.
As for washing the wedding dress, it is best to take it to the laundry room, where it will be professionally cleaned and ironed.
However, if you want to save on washing, you can wash the wedding dress yourself. Spread it at the bottom of the bathtub, then apply a clear dishwashing liquid or ultra-soft shampoo to contaminated areas before soaking the dress in warm water. Then gently rinse it in cold water and hang it on a hanger above the bathtub to allow the water to drain out.
